Hick Festival - Parsons, West Virginia

Parsons is the place for the Hick Festival, held every year in September. Tucker County celebrates its annual Hick Festival with three days of down-home fun that recollects the ways of old and examines the Mountain State's history and heritage.

Tucker County gals take the stage to compete for the Queen Laurel crown and title. Wearing an old fashioned gown, the contestants, ages 9 to 13, are judged on a personal interview, casual wear, talent, personality, and poise.

Besides the beauty pageant, this little hamlet of West Virginia celebrated its Hick Festival with a cake walk, a lumberjack demonstration, and some music.
